I spent a sunny autumnal afternoon photographing Miriam and Alex at their beautiful Chelsea home. Recently engaged, this was the perfect time to catch the couples portraits, with the Thames background to frame the lovely couple in the autumn light.
This engagement photoshoot was surrounded by Miriam and Alex’s living space, which had their favourite plants and special touches. Having a photographer in your home can be pretty daunting at first, but I am here to create photographs that capture your true personality and often, your home is the best extension of you.
Where to have an Engagement photoshoot in West London in 2022:
Chelsea
Lying on the north bank of the Thames, Chelsea is a dreamy setting for your engagement shoot. The Saatchi gallery has a grand exterior that frames couples perfectly. There’s also the Chelsea embankment stretch which provides greenery as well as the River Thames.
Nottinghill
You probably know Nottinghill from the film. The rows of colourful houses with streets of food market stalls and dainty little shops. If you’re looking for something different, these rainbow backdrops will bring life to your photoshoot.
Holland Park
Holland Park is very close to Nottinghill and carries on with the pastel houses. It also is home to the unique Kyoto gardens, where you can find peacocks who will want to be part of your engagement.
Kensington
Kensington Gardens are a unique and special viewing in spring where the wisteria is out in full bloom. If you’re looking for some natural floral settings, these will make an incredible scene. The autumnal leaves are equally as serene if your engagement falls more into the later months.
Fulham
Fulham has a lot going for it, especially with cafés and pubs if your engagement shoot is in the colder months. It’s always handy to have a hot chocolate stop when everyone’s hands are cold, and you need a pick-me-up to make sure the time is as enjoyable as possible.
Is an engagement photoshoot worth it?
Not only is this a time to capture some dreamy images of you as a couple but it can act as a test run for the big day itself. I believe that every photoshoot is 100% worth it! Here are some previous engagement photoshoots to get you excited and inspired to book your own.
How soon after getting engaged should I book a photographer?
I recommend anytime from a week to 2 months after the engagement. In this time period, you won’t be too heavily planning the wedding and can truly enjoy the time being a fiancé/Fiancee.
How much does an engagement photoshoot cost?
The best way to find out about pricing is to contact me through my enquiry page. Here we can discuss whatever concerns you may have and you can view the different options, including bespoke prints and heirloom albums.
How long does an engagement photoshoot take?
I recommend 2 hours for an engagement photoshoot. This enables us to capture some beautiful photos without being rushed. We can meet in your preferred location, either at home or in your favourite place, you have time to relax and also for a few outfit changes. If you would like to know more about the perfect length, then feel free to contact me and I can give you advice.
How many outfits are needed in an engagement photoshoot?
It is entirely up to you whether you want to have an outfit change or not. Some people like to wear one outfit throughout the whole photoshoot, whereas others like to wear something more formal, to begin with, and then change into something more casual. I do recommend wearing something that will make you comfortable and relaxed, an outfit your feel confident in.
